On behalf of Lower Gornal Medical Practice we would like to welcome you to our website.
We are a friendly, traditional Doctors’ Practice serving almost 10,000 local residents.

The main site – Lower Gornal Health Centre, Bull Street, Lower Gornal

We believe in listening to our patients, and continually improving our services. Our patient participation group meets regularly and helps us introduce changes to the way we operate, and we welcome comments from patients which may be able to help us give a better service. If you are interested in joining our patient participation group, or receiving an email of the notes of the meetings, please leave your contact details at Reception.

As a team of professionals within the practice we work together in order to facilitate the best care for our patients.

We hope we will provide you with useful information on a range of services we offer.

The practice will shortly be going through a period of change. We will shortly be losing Dr Bharmal who is moving from the area and Dr Suleman who is taking semi-retirement and reducing his clinical sessions.

Due to the reduction in Doctors and staff during the holiday period there may be limited appointment availability throughout August and September.

Patients requiring urgent/same day care will be seen as necessary, however patients may find that they have to wait longer than usual to see their Doctor of choice.

Our Online Service is available to registered patients to book routine GP appointments online and request repeat medication.

Emergency GP appointments and routine nursing appointments are unable to be booked online.  Please contact the surgery on 01384 322400

    Named GP for every patient
Every patient in our practice has a named/usual GP who will be accountable for their care, although patients have the choice to see different doctors.

    Mobile Numbers
Please check we have your mobile numbers on record so we can send you appointment reminders. You can also use the service to cancel your appointments.

    Pharmacy First
Your local Pharmacy can give you help and advice about your health and well-being. Minor conditions can often be dealt with by a pharmacist without a prescription and without the need to see a doctor. They may be able to advise you on the most suitable treatment, which may include an over-the-counter medicine.

    Electronic Prescriptions
Your prescriptions can now be sent electronically from the surgery to your nominated pharmacy.

This means you will not have to make a return journey to the surgery to collect your paper repeat prescription. Simply order your prescription in the usual way. Your medication will be ready for collection from the pharmacy usually within 2-3 working days.

Speak to a member off staff at the surgery or a pharmacy.
